Summer 2017 Parent Education Classes
PARENTING THE ADHD CHILD
For parents of children 4+ with an ADHD diagnosis. Designed to fit parent’s busy schedules, bring your lunch and learn more about ADHD. This three week class will help parents gain a better understanding of ADHD and will use proven strategies to help the behavior and attention of your child.
Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm

PARENTING THE LOVE & LOGIC WAY®
For parents of children ages 5 through eighteen. In this five-week course you will learn the “love and logic” approach to encouraging mutual respect, good decision-making and responsible behavior.

“Try and make me!” RAISING A STRONG WILLED CHILD”
Learn how to set limits, reduce power struggles, and understand your strong willed child in this 4-week class. Parents will learn to recognize what triggers misbehavior and how to foster a relationship that will make their child more compliant.

Strengthening Your Stepfamily
This three week class helps families understand the changes and feelings children experience as their family dynamics change. Topics covered include effective communication and coping skills, recreating roles and relationships, establishing sound discipline, co-parenting, and sibling relationships.

ACTIVE PARENTING For Family Stabilization: Divorce and Separation Class
This class is for parents who are required to take a court ordered or DHS recommended parenting class. In addition to teaching basic parenting skills, this one time, two-hour class focuses on how children are affected by divorce and separation. Topics covered include co-parenting skills, parenting styles, problems solving, anger management, communication and coping skills for both parents and children.
Monday evenings from 6-8pm

$10 per person per class
ACTIVE PARENTING For Family Stabilization: Trauma and Reunification Class
This class is for parents who are required to take a court ordered or DHS recommended parenting class.
This one time, two-hour class teaches basic parenting skills to parents who have been separated from their children and need support before, during, and after family reunification. Topics covered will include: parenting styles, teaching responsibility, cooperation, respect, problem-solving, anger management, coping skills, for parents and children, and effective communication skills.
Monday evenings from 6-8pm
